Lagos, After Light

Lagos, After Light

A conversation about the city that shaped the house: its contradictions, its calm, and the particular golden hour that falls over Victoria Island.

Lagos is not a quiet city. It is horns, heat, and the smell of rain on asphalt. But within that noise there are pockets of stillness — a courtyard in Ikoyi, the terrace of a modernist residence in Victoria Island, the hour before sunset when everything turns amber.\n\nMaison Jones was born in those pockets. The house designs in London and cuts in Lagos because the tension between the two cities is the tension of the clothes: European precision, African ease.\n\nThis season we photographed the campaign in a residence by the lagoon. The light moved across the linen, across the model's shoulder, across the polished concrete floor. We did not add anything. We only watched.
