Maison Jones Approved™ is an editorial mark for houses I believe are worth your consideration.
I look at the quality and consistency of the work, cut, cloth, finishing, design point of view, reputation and the evidence available to me.
Some houses I know from personal experience. Others have earned their place through proper scrutiny of their work, customer experience, reputation and consistency.
I will always make that distinction clear.
Approved™ does not mean a house is perfect, nor is it a paid endorsement. It means I have seen enough to believe its work deserves to be on your shortlist.
The standard
Cut
01Does the garment understand proportion? Good clothing should work with the man wearing it, not simply photograph well on a model.
Cloth
02Does the fabric suit the garment, occasion and climate? Expensive cloth alone does not make a good garment.
Finishing
03I look for evidence of attention to construction, detailing and finish. The things that separate something merely impressive in a photograph from something worth owning.
Consistency
04One exceptional piece is not enough. I look for evidence that the standard carries across a house's work.
Service
05Where reliable evidence is available, I consider communication, delivery experience, alterations and aftercare. Lead times should always be confirmed directly with the house before ordering.
Editorial independence
Cannot be bought
Maison Jones Approved™ cannot be bought. A designer cannot pay for the badge, and commercial relationships do not determine which houses receive it.
Where I have worn, bought or commissioned from a house personally, I will say so.
Where my assessment is based on editorial scrutiny rather than personal experience, I will say that too.
The distinction should always be clear.
