The Olive Embroidered Agbada
For: Naming ceremony / traditional engagement / Sunday of a wedding weekend
Olive with a worked chest panel is the most useful agbada I know for daytime. It photographs beautifully in flat British light, which gold and white simply do not.
- Colour
- Olive
- Cloth
- Matte cotton with a hand-guided chest panel
- Cut
- Outer to the knee
- Detail
- Worked chest panel, plain hem
Indicative UK market range: £550–£1,000
On your frame
- Broad / muscular — Narrow the chest panel and keep the shoulder entirely unstructured.
- Tall and lean — Lengthen the tunic below the hip so the proportion does not read cropped.
- Compact — Knee-length outer, higher sleeve fold, no break over the shoe.
- Fuller figure — Straight body, deep slits, and the panel kept to the centre.
What to do next
01 — The introduction
If this is the shape you want, tell me the occasion and date and I will point you at the right house for it.
Tell me the occasion, the date and your budget bracket. Within 24 hours you get back: two or three houses I would actually approach and why those and not others, the alterations to insist on for your build, a realistic timeline for your date, and a short written brief you can hand to the tailor at the first fitting.
- No fee, no commission, nothing sold here.
- If nobody I trust fits your date or budget, I say so.
- Read by me, answered by me.
02 — If the date is further off
